world cup send-off 2007

Working with Mencap and Centre Stage, this project was a two week acoustic festival curated by Jo Whiley in the awe-inspiring Union Chapel venue in Islington. The show saw artists like Florence & the Machine, David Gray, Richard Hawley, Editors, Alexandra Burke and Arcric Monkeys meeting new talent.

It is the fourth year the Sessions have been held in Islington’s Union Chapel and it’s always been atmospheric but whoever did the lighting this year elevated it to another level”

-  Camden New Journal.

In April, a Barnet Council schools project put 1000 performers into the Royal Albert Hall for their five yearly ‘One Voice’.  The event was working for School Stage and involved many choirs and even five orchestras all playing together under one main conductor.

Delta Maid is a currently unsigned UK artist who was playing at this year’s iTunes Festival at the Roundhouse, Camden.  The stage director, Emma Bull, and Richard tried to give the huge stage an interesting and intimate feel by having Delta standing in the centre of sea of no less than three hundred clear light bulbs.

The Shoreditch Festival again brought three days of local and international artists together in Shoreditch Park.  The first night was a performance from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with a fireworks finale.  The lighting here was installed by Richard’s production company, Total Eclipse.

Working for London events company, Invisible Blue, a clever reveal structure was installed into the Hurlingham Club for Ferrari North Europe to launch the new Ferrari 458 Italia.  It included perspex waves which would ‘rev’ up and down with the engine before creating the Italian Flag.

There were two projects with Pandora Productions and Royal British Legion.  The annual carol concert took place at The Guildhall and a 65th Anniversary of VEDay event took place at Horeseguard’s Parade where a huge metal ‘V’ Structure needed lighting.

The send-off event for the Rugby World Cup in 2007 meaned a dinner of huge proportion being organised at the O2 Arena in Greenwich.  Production for this event was by Invisible Blue.

Under the Stars is Newham, London’s annual outdoor free festival and involves four nights of music from all over culmination in a fireworks show on the Sunday with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.  Production was by Centre Stage Productions.
